Slack Key Guitar Soundboard Bracing
January 5th, 2009 . by James
The new Russell slack key guitar is coming along. Here is a close-up shot of the European Spruce soundboard and bracing, showing the fan bracing going through the diagonal transverse brace.

This shot shows the full soundboard fan bracing with two soundholes in the upper bout. There is a one piece cross-grain spruce reinforcement around both soundholes. This is a custom soundhole design. By not having a center soundhole and extending the fan braces further up, more of the soundboard will be excited by string vibration.

Very cool bracing pattern. Great photos, and nice clean work.
I want one!

The wood and workmanship on this guitar are exquisite! What a gorgeous looking instrument it promises to be. And if it sounds as good as other Russell Guitars, it should be a dream!
